New regulations aimed at curbing excessive tourism and improving coexistence between visitors and residents in the Balearic Islands came into effect last Saturday, introducing stricter measures than those established in 2020.

  • Fines for street drinking have been increased to between 500 and 1,500 euros.
  • Stores are now banned from selling alcoholic beverages between 9:30 p.m and 8 a.m.
  • Party boats are restricted from approaching within one nautical mile of the coast in designated areas and cannot pick up or disembark passengers there.
  • Local councils will annually inform consulates of the main tourist-sending countries about penalties for their nationals’ non-compliance.
  • The regulations are set to expire on December 31, 2027, with hopes they will no longer be necessary after that date.
